Groton Heights Open House Day on Saturday, August 7, is a day of exploration, discovery, and fun as you visit these fascinating cultural sites right here in the City of Groton. Hop on our convenient shuttle bus for a narrated tour of the area with stops at each location. Take a free Boat Tour aboard the Water Taxi. Tour the historic Avery-Copp House, enjoy games for children, watch demonstrations, and meet a Revolutionary War re-enactor. Browse the annual book sale at the Bill Memorial Library where you’ll find gently used and like new books of all genres. The Ebenezer Avery House will be open for free tours of an 18th century house museum. Take a guided tour of Fort Griswold Battlefield, and meet with Abby Day Slocomb, designer of the CT flag. Learn about the history of the Groton Congregational Church and see the beautiful Tiffany window on a tour of this beautiful historic church. Visit the conning tower of the WWII submarine USS Flasher and reflect on the Wall of Honor, which pays homage to the submarines and submariners lost during WWII. Grab a bite to eat from 11-2 at Par 4’s Curbside Catering Food Truck. Enjoy the cool breezes and beautiful views of the Thames in a neighborhood of historic homes.

The FREE shuttle bus service runs from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
